Perplexity connects to remote MCP servers as custom connectors.

Add the connector

Open Connectors

Go to Settings, Connectors and click Add custom connector, then choose Remote.

Enter the server

Name it ContentHero, set Streamable HTTP transport and OAuth authentication, and enter the MCP server URL:

Authorize

Perplexity discovers the OAuth endpoints automatically. Sign in with your ContentHero account and approve. No API key needed.

Verify

Enable the connector under Sources in a thread, then ask Perplexity to read your ContentHero balance. It calls get_balance and returns your credits.
Custom connectors are available on Perplexity Pro, Max, and Enterprise. In an organization, an admin must allow members to add custom connectors.
